Pagoda Restaurant Koi Fish

In Japan, koi symbolizes many good qualities. Koi are known to swim against the current and overcome great obstacles. Koi symbolize strength, courage, patience and success through perseverance. Throughout the Hawaiian Islands, you can find many koi ponds in yards, businesses and landscapes. I painted this scene after having lunch at the Pagoda Restaurant, which is surrounded by a beautiful koi pond filled with a variety of koi. I was impressed with the beauty and peacefulness of the koi.
