The Hawaiian Stilt bird is an endangered Hawaiian subspecies of the black-necked stilt species. They are sometimes spotted in streams, ponds, taro patches and the wetlands feeding on small fish, crabs and frogs. In my entire life, living in Hawaii, I have only spotted these spectacular creatures four times. Of course, after spotting two of them wading in a watercress pond, I was inspired to capture this scene on canvas.
