Tropical Hibiscus

This painting titled "Heavenly Heliconia" is painted on the highest quality watercolor paper from France, "Arches", 300 lb. The paint I use for my watercolor paintings is also of the highest quality paint, Winsor Newton, QoR and Daniel Smith. These high quality brands of paint will not fade especially when painted on Arches paper. The red hibiscus flower is found throughout the Hawaiian Islands and has been a part of Hawaii before Hawaii became a state. The red hibiscus is a symbol of love and passion. It stands for friendship and all kinds of love, not just romantic love. As I was visiting the Wahiawa Botanical Garden located on the Island of Oahu, I spotted this spectacular red hibiscus. I immediately photographed it so that I could later capture its beauty on canvas.
