On Top of the Lychee Tree

The Lychee Tree is a tropical tree native to Southeast and Southwest China. The Chinese who immigrated to Hawaii to work in the pineapple fields brought this tree to Hawaii. Lychee trees can be found growing throughout the Hawaiian Islands, even in the forest and mountains. In Hawaii, the trees bear fruit just once a year and so the fruit is very popular among the locals during lychee season. The tree is also very popular with the native birds in Hawaii so I decided to include these wonderful creatures in my painting.
