Lunch Hour for a Hungry Egret

The egret is my favorite bird to paint. Besides being captivated by its beauty and personality, I love what egrets symbolize.
Egrets are symbolic of purity, strength, balance, concentration, longevity, and piety. Because they tend to enjoy solitude, their spirit also represents freedom and independence. I photographed the egret in my painting while it was feeding in a taro patch during lunch time.
